Resolution Paper
Committee: Right to Safety
Topic: Cartel Drug War in the United States and Mexico.
Sponsor: United States & Mexico.
The General Assembly,
Deeply concerned on the safety of citizens throughout the Americas due to lack of ending a drug war that has gone above and beyond the reach of government,
Encouraging our government to be more aggressive to stop corruption within their own system,
Recalling to the government to end their current plan on stopping the cartel violence,
Affirming the enforcement of laws are no different depending on the economic status of the person arrested,
Aware that most people being part of this war are young men most times also being younger than eighteen,
Taking into account that many politics have been known to have formed a part of the drug cartels ravaging the streets of Mexico’s cities,
1. Propose a bill to create good paying jobs intended mainly to the countries youth, therefore less will join cartels and become criminals;
2. Applauds the current efforts of the government to capture major cartel leaders;
3. Suggests the lowering of violent encounters with cartel members in major city streets, less innocent blood will be spilled;
4. Demands for government officials to be background checked so there can be less corruption within the own system;
5. Expresses the hope of forming an agreement in which both countries Mexico and the United States would join forces to fight in a more peaceful manner against these violent cartels.
